The BIDMC Harvard Psychiatry Residency Training Program is eager to support residents seeking a career as a physician investigator as well as residents who develop robust scholarly projects and would benefit from additional research time. All residents with an interest in research may use their half day per week of scholarly project time beginning in the PGY 2 year. In January of the PGY 2 year, residents who wish to have expanded research time in PGY 3 and 4 years will be invited to apply for the research concentration. Residents with a research concentration will have the following protected time for research:
PGY2: half day per week (scholarly project time)
PGY3: three half days (15 hours) per week (includes one half day of scholarly project time)
PGY4: thirty hours per week (includes one half day of scholarly project time)
Residents enrolled in the research concentration will be mentored by our dedicated research faculty and will be guided in all aspects of their project development, including research design, data analysis, IRB applications, grant writing and applications, and publishing.
