Community Track
All residents training at BIDMC take part in core rotations involving the care of patients at community clinics and have the opportunity to use selective time for rotations in community settings and the public sector.
The BIDMC Community Track provides a structured opportunity for interested residents to engage in community psychiatry in a longitudinal way throughout residency. This program takes advantage of the broad range of clinical experiences afforded to us by our institutional affiliation with the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC), the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH), and several other community-based clinics.
Residents in the Community Track will be offered specific mentorship to help guide them on a career path towards practicing psychiatry in community settings and the public sector. Funding will also be available for the Community Track residents to attend the annual APA Mental Health Services conference.
Rotation maps for the Community Track are below. Clinical experiences in the Community Track include rotations at the RAFT partial hospital program at MMHC, long-term inpatient psychiatric care units overseen by DMH, the continuing care clinic at MMHC, experiences in forensic psychiatry, and other clinical selectives. PGY4 residents in the Community Track also have the opportunity to complete a Chief Residency at a DMH site.
